Genius Project4Domino keeps business processes in place while tracking information
IMPERIAL TOBACCO CANADA
Imperial Tobacco Canada is the leading Canadian tobacco products manufacturer with more than two-thirds of the Canadian premium tailor-made cigarettes market.
Imperial Tobacco Canada's head office is located in Montreal. The company operates one cigarette manufacturing plant in Guelph and two tobacco processing plants in Aylmer (Ontario). Sales offices are located in three major cities across Canada: Montreal, Toronto and Calgary.
Imperial Tobacco Canada’s MIS department regroups 80 employees as well as some external consultants. They provide various services to the corporation such as application development and maintenance, network and system administration, helpdesk services as well as IT training through the company.
THE SITUATION
Over the years, many companies have attempted to integrate and create a certain uniformity with regards to project planning, application maintenance and requests, project budgeting, time tracking as well as integration to backend systems, like SAP, for financial information. Imperial Tobacco Canada’s MIS department had also built applications and purchased software to support these activities. But these systems were not all integrated and there were still some services that did not have tools to manage their specific activities.

This would assist in the decision-making process for more efficient resources management.

Imperial Tobacco Canada chose Genius Project4Domino as their solution. Genius Project4Domino met the challenge which was to keep their business processes in place while tracking information in a more effective manner. Genius Project4Domino provides data integration for the department’s project and non-project activities and brings a uniform presentation to all the information.
The decision to use Genius Project4Domino was reached after comprehensive research of software on the market. Due to its flexibility, Genius Project4Domino was found to be the most appropriate tool available to help Imperial Tobacco Canada MIS Division reach one of its objectives. It is capable of integrating the existing applications and software into a unique repository accessible to all in a very secure manner and configure and map the existing business processes.
THE RESULTS
Imperial Tobacco Canada has been using Genius Inside solutions for more than two years. During that time, Imperial Tobacco Canada also started to track application requests in Genius Project4Domino with project activities, using the same planning tools. They now have an integrated version of their project portfolio that is used in their IT project planning review every September.
Imperial Tobacco Canada is one of the first corporations to migrate to the new web-based Genius Project4Domino. Genius Project4Domino provides the same functionality in a new a web-oriented interface.
