Successful Project Process Implementation Without Compromise

THE CHALLENGES: The SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
Agfa HealthCare is one of the strategic divisions for the present and the future of Agfa. The HealthCare business enforces large and long term projects. In fact the pre-sales of a HealthCare solution can already be a big project by it self.
The goal of Agfa is to ensure the success of pre-sales and implementation projects, to control costs, delays, quality, and all documentation of those projects. It is also important to have a tool that supports team-oriented work.
It was no discussion, the division had to implement a project management methodology and the need of a tool supporting this methodology was also identified.
Pointing 1999 the Agfa project management team started an active search to look and evaluate PM solutions available on the market.
Genius Enterprise Project (Old version of Genius Project4Domino) wasn’t the only tool that Agfa has evaluated, but it was clear in a short time after looking at Genius P4D that the Genius solution provides almost all requested functionality: document management, workflow support, tasks and deliverable management, cost tracking, resource management, timesheet, project template, as well as Microsoft Project integration.
THE SOLUTION: A SUCCESSFUL PILOT PROJECT
In 2001 Agfa decided to start a pilot project for Genius P4D in Belgium.
During this phase Agfa decided also to implement the defined Agfa project management methodology, a real project process modelling. Genius P4D allowed them to really implement this process including standard WBS, document templates, standard deliverables and workflow. Due to its flexibility and large scope of functionality, Genius P4D allowed AGFA to implement the standard process with a minimum of compromise.
After a three month pilot project, Agfa decided to launch the roll out for all European countries and North America. Today Genius P4D is used by more than 500 users within the HealthCare division. Further roll-out in Asia/Pacific and Latin America is planned.
